Look at the two exam-style questions below, and, for each one, write down some notes that give an idea of how you would answer the question. By the time you read this, we will have done some work on this in class, but in case you weren't there, I have written some notes for a different question as an example.

* In a very negative way
* Jack is very violent and is portrayed as an unsympathetic character
* Two boys end up being killed
* As law and order break down on the island, the boys become more violent
* Ralph always refuses to resort to violence
* The first hint that violence is going to become commonplace is when Piggy's glasses get broken
* It is open to interpretation whether the boys are violent because they are children, or because they are humans.
* The violence on the island can be placed in the wider context of the violence of the war that caused them to end up there.
